Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am no "techie" (66yo and don't even own a smartphone) but I was able to set this TV up myself, for the time being salvaging a 2003 SONY 5-disc DVD/CD player and 2003 Sony Home Theater Receiver. (I ditched the old VHS but suspect that it could be managed as well.) You sacrifice the HD and pixels of your TV when using an older DVD player, but it works fine. You direct the video from the DVD player directly into the TV with component cables. I took the audio from the DVD player into to the receiver with a digital optical cable and then out to the 5+1 speakers. Alternatively, without the receiver and speakers, you can connect the audio of the DVD player directly to the TV with standard dual red/white audio cables. In addition, with my hookup, I was also able to take the audio OUTPUT from the TV up TO the receiver and choose to select "TV" on the receiver and hear the TV through the front side speakers instead of the TV's center speaker if I so desired. Hope this helps.
