“Can Samsung washers wash water resistent fabrics like matress covers? I read that others brands can't wash waterproof or water resistant items. Does that apply to Samsung as well?”

Thanks for the question. Samsung does not recommend washing waterproof items in the WA50F9A8DSW or other HE models. - Ms. Samsung

I have a "Waterproof" rain jacket that I was in this dryer and I have had no issues with it! I also wash my sons waterproof mattress pads.

I wash our mattress pads in ours but, it says you're not supposed to in the manual.

That is what a label indicates that is posted right under the lid I have never tried it. But I also never had the need to. I do have rubber backed rugs that I have washed successfully
