Great question, Maggie! First, I'd like to provide this link (https://bit.ly/3y7P5cK) that has in depth information about the different cycles and settings available on Samsung washers, as well as when and how to use them. If the rug you are wanting to wash has a rubber or slip resistant bottom (as most do) you would need to use the Bedding/Waterproof cycle to prevent damage to the washer. ^Jecca
