Yes, the element is hidden, and it has a self-clean option.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No hidden element that I am aware of. One large heating element in the top of the oven. A fan in the back wall that comes on when the element is heating to even out the heat. It is a convection oven or "regular" oven. You can choose which you want to use. It was necessary to get the convection oven in order to get the self cleaning oven. Both the steam clean and self clean are available on this range. I haven't used either yet as only had about a month. A side note: I was disappointed in the broiling of food. Didn't seem to get hot enough. Then when all else fails read the directions. It says to preheat the broiler for 10 minutes before cooking. It is now broiling my steak etc. just fine.
