I'm sorry, I haven't used the steam feature yet, but I'm my eyes it'll be much better than the normal self clean. The self clean gets super hot and can ruin theb electrical Componets and I have a fear of a fire. The steam feature is possible because there isn't a burner at the bottom of the oven which is nice when stuff falls down, it won't hit the burner. This oven has the burner in back and cooks well.

My understanding is that when I need to self clean, I need to add water into the oven. Seasoning my pan was the first thing I did after this stove was delivered.
