Just bought this TV, and I find that the sound is much better than that on the old TV. However, I have hearing loss in the higher frequencies, so I plan to purchase a sound bar for even better sound quality.

This TV set features two 10 watt, main-channel speakers providing DTS 5.1 audio. The need of supplementary audio for this or the newer sets depends on the environment you'd be using this television in as well as the hearing ability of those using it. It will produce fairly loud audio, though, and I would recommend seeing if you would be able to test the set in the store to see if it produces audio to your liking.
