• Yes, there is a sensor and if you change the setting in the settings area it will return to a normal screen. By having it the way your seeing it just saves energy. Good luck!

• Not as far as I can tell. Although I don't run into that issue, there are a few modes to adjust the brightness so you shouldn't have to worry about it.
