The red, white and yellow “ports” you refer to are for the old RCA cables used to carry audio and video signals from one device to another. Technology has changed. You will now need an hdmi cable to carry the audio and video signal from your DVD player to your tv. An hdmi cable has only one connector on each end. Your DVD player should have a hdmi out port and your tv has more than one hdmi in port on the right side.
