Hi Roxy - The Remote does not light up.The speakers are under the TV, but fire outwards. If the TV is sitting on a stand/dresser there is enough room under it for a sound bar. The TV space underneath between the feet/legs is 36.8" x 2.7"- The HW-T550 is 33.9" x 2.2". The soundbar also comes with a wall mount in the box. It is a 320 watt soundbar. The TV also has Bluetooth so that you could connect the TV to Bluetooth headphones. if someone needs the volume louder, they can wear headphones and the other person can listen at their volue choice form the TV.
