The colors on the screen/quality are excellent. However I must sit directly in front of the TV for true sharp picture. If I sit slightly to either side or when I enter the room from the side the picture becomes washed out & grey. Can this be corrected? null

This is the nature of certain types of LED-LCD panels. Many don't have very wide viewing angles. You may want to invest in an OLED TV if you need wide viewing angles.
Not all LCD panels behave this way. It might be worth checking out the demo models in a store to get a better idea of the best TV for your needs.
