Chris, the height under the 50TU7000 will only be about 2.7"; placing a 3" soundbar will block the RF signal your remote sends to your TV. The sensor is located where the "Samsung" logo is on the bottom edge of your TV. Stepping up to the TU8000, you will gain the sleek and slim OneRemote which pairs to your TV via Bluetooth and will allow you to place your soundbar in front of the sensor and still be able to control your TV. ^Gina
