Studs aren't necessary...the TV comes with drywall anchors if there's no stud...not sure how good they work because I installed studs behind mine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A stud would definitely be helpful as the 55 inch or 65 inch Frame TV is relatively awkward and usually takes two people to put it in place. What you really need is a stud finder to locate the studs that are usually spaced 16 inches apart. The flush mounting bracket needs to screw into at least one, preferably two studs as wall board mounts probably won’t handle the weight. The span of the bracket is greater than 16 inches, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

This TV is not that heavy, nor is the mounting bracket that comes with, but that doesn’t mean you should ever rely solely on drywall. It may be some work to cut out drywall and install some wood bracing, but it’s the only way to hang it safely.
