“Im confused about Dolby Atmos. Some people say the Q70A does not support it on its own. Its through apps. So if i hook my atmos soundbar up through Earc. Will it play atmos all the time or just if what i watch supports it? .... Cable, netflix, hulu,etc..?”

Foose07 - You can set the TV to allow Dolby Digital+ with Atmos streams that are input from external devices. Set to ON if the audio device connected via HDMI (eARC) supports Dolby Atmos. eARC will allow uncompressed Atmos. As long as your external device supports Atmos, you can pass-through Atmos via eARC without issue. ^Gina
