Yes. It will be ok. The base of the tv which is 15" wide and made of a strong heavy metal - steel which supports the 48.3" tv. So, even if your tv edges hang over an inch or two it will be fine. Just make sure it is not in the path of a door, window or some opening where someone would walk by and bump in to the tv. Although, it would take some good amount of force to knock it over due to the heavy base. Ours is in the corner next to a door and window but is far enough back between the two. I hope that helps.
