It sounds like your issue lies with Verizon considering you have sound when you watch DVDs. You're ahead of the curve (pun intended) on the 4K technology and many services/providers don't have that capability yet, but it's coming. To get a better sound, I recommend getting a sound bar no matter what. You just spent a couple thousand on a super nice TV, I recommend getting the sound bar to get the best audio available. TVs nowadays are not built for quality sound.
