I had a similar issue with my 5.1 Onkyo system. What I found was that when I set the system up using the required ARC, my receiver reset all my audio settings. So I had to go back in and reset everything to the way that I had it previously. The other thing I'd check is on the TV settings and make sure that the audio is set up to use a receiver. Use the e-manual that's on the TV and it's pretty self-explanatory. Until I did this, my TV kept reverting back to using the TV speakers.
