“The Time-Warner cable installer said all of their signals are only HD and buying a 4K is a waste of money. Some of the TVs have upscaling. Therefore, my questions are: Is it worth buying a 4K now if I can't get a 4K signal and what good is upscaling?”

Well, he's right. But Netflix does serve 4K content, and it is noticeably sharper than 1080p, so if you use the SmartTV features to watch Netflix or a BluRay, it isn't a total waste. Some day, before too long, they'll move to 4k, but that's really a larger industry problem.

I do notice a huge difference in picture quality when watching Netflix movies that makes it worth it if you watch a lot of movies through streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu.
