Hi Jay - Yes, you can definitely add your own art work. You are also able to set a slideshow up, with timing from 10 minutes to 7 days. And, if by "matted" you mean a matte around the art, you have a choice of full frame or adding a matte. The matte choices offer 16 colors and offers 9 different layouts for the pictures. ^Cris
