• Sounds like u have a dryer vent box. This allows the dryer to be pushed back all the way to the wall leaving about an inch from the wall or say a power cord width. Nicely done that makes your dryer a true 27” machine install

• Something like 6” or so. You need some room to connect the vent hose.
