Yes, it can. We did not install a water connection for the dryer at this time.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.When they brought the washer & dryer to my home to be installed, the steam option dryer has a connection to the water hoses connected to the washer. It's like a Y with one going to the washer & the other to the dryer. If your washer isn't right next to the dryer, you don't need to do anything, just plug it in like a regular dryer without that option. It's not mandatory that you need to use that option, but it is a good option if you are ever able to connect it up.
