“The TV comes preset at 50 brightness and 50 contrast. Can you please tell me how to make the TV brighter or are these the max settings? It seems a little darker than I like it presently and for the location. Not a typical menu youd expect to see. thanks!”

You have to go through the menu. When you find the picture setting, chose "vivid."
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.50 is max backlight on this tv however your gamma setting affects perceived brightness. If you’re used to an older tv or have this tv in a room with lighting you might be used to gamma setting of 2.2. In sdr (non hdr mode) this tv defaults to a gamma of bt.1886 which is a little darker. Try changing to gamma 2.2 to see if this makes the image brighter for you. If not you can always change it back to bt.1886 if you prefer that look.
