Any motherboard with a SATA interface will take it but keep in mind the older the motherboard, the more the SSD performance is affected. Also check the space allotted for the hard drive (3.5” or 2.5”). You’d be best served buying a comparable HDD (spinning disk drive). https://support.apple.com/kb/sp579?locale=en_US
