Please use you Dell "Rapid Spec Code" located on your units service tag at www.dell.com to check SATA compatibility. This is a great SATA choice if compatible. Thanks for asking.

Left lower is a bare 2.5" SSD spot. Just above it is a combo compatible SATA SSD and NVMe M2 2280 compatible slot. The Latitude 5500 series tear down: again, hinge away and upside down on a soft surface. The three screws at the hinge, the three screws acros the middle - loosen but do not remove. The four screws across the bottom, remove. Using a plastic spreader tool, gently pry the top corners and center at hinge up. Work your way around to loosen and remove bottom. If you're swapping to clone internal SATA M2, REMOVE THE BATTERY PLUG. Others say to remove battery, but with a little care and a right-size slotted screw driver, gently remove the connector for the batt to the mother board. Easy does it. This is really the toughest part without removing the battery. Then, gently lifting the the laptop so you can access the power button and depress for 30 sec to discharge. Then remove the M.2 SATA SSD and replace with the NVMe SSD. You're cloning the internal or performing a clean install. Right?
