• If you mean an external enclosure, sure you can. Just stick in in there and hook it up USB to the laptop and you got yourself another drive to play with. I got a couple here and I'm cloning SSD's with one to another on a desktop system. Just takes a while.

• I used this adapter to clone an SSD to my laptop. Once closed, i removed the old HDD and replaced it with the new SSD. This adapter would probably work to use a SSD drive as an outside storage drive.

• Yeah, I bought a USB-SATA adapter connector with my drive but ultimately decided to install it in my computer instead. As long as it's the correct connector, you'll be good!
