Using a wallet style fold over case and an Otterbox Defender, I have had no problems with it charging.

It charges my NOTE 9 with my wallet style case with no problem at all. I am not sure what kind of case you have but I used an Otterbox Defender case on my old S8+ and this type of wireless charger worked on it so I would guess that it would regardless of your case. Try it out, Best Buy would let you return it if it didn't work but I feel confident that you wont have to worry about that.

I have the Note 8 inside of an Otterbox Defender case and it charges it just fine! I assume it would be the same for Note 9
