“My 2016 LG 75UH8500 has 4K and 3D. It upscales everything to 4K. So I have a Blue Ray 3D DVD player....Why do I need a 4K 3D DVD Player? Seems that defeats the purpose of the TV doing the upscaling?”

its all about the power it takes to play the movies. The processor on the player helps the t.v. ,so the t.v. doesnt have to do all the work...
