A:AnswerI purchased a Samsung refrigerator about 12 years ago (we sold it with the house about 5 years ago so I don't know if it's still going strong or not). I love the fridge, however, once the ice maker gets iced up, it's basically gone and dead no matter how many times it gets serviced. My mom and sister had similar models to mine and same thing happened. I'm getting ready to buy new appliances for my new home and came back here to see if the issue has been resolved. Unfortunately, it looks like it has not. However, my ice maker was in the door and it looks like this fridge has the ice maker in the freezer. My current whirlpool is the same and the ice maker works great--so maybe the same with this bespoke model? I'm not sure if it's worth the risk or not.

A:AnswerGreetings!
We are glad to provide details related to your question about this Samsung refrigerator model.
The "open box" condition typically refers to items that were originally purchased and then returned to the retailer. These items are often still in excellent condition but have been opened or used to some extent. Here's a breakdown of what you might expect with open-box items:
1. Returned Item: Yes, an open box item is usually a returned product. The previous customer may have returned it for various reasons, such as it not meeting their needs or simply changing their mind.
2. Reason for Return: Retailers like Best Buy usually do not disclose specific reasons for the return, as this information is considered private. However, the items are generally inspected to ensure they are still in good working condition before being resold.
3. Condition Levels: Retailers often categorize open box items into different condition levels to help buyers understand what to expect:
a. Excellent: The item is in near-new condition with minimal signs of use, and all original accessories and packaging may be included.
b. Good: The item may have some noticeable signs of use, like minor cosmetic blemishes, but is still in full working order and may be missing some accessories or packaging.
c. Fair: The item may show more significant signs of use or cosmetic damage. It’s still functional but might have noticeable wear and tear. Packaging and accessories might be incomplete.
4. External Damage: Depending on the condition level, there could be some external damage or cosmetic imperfections. Typically, the extent of this damage is described in the product listing.
For Best Buy, it’s a good idea to read the specific details provided in the product listing for the open-box item you're interested in. They usually include a description of the condition and sometimes photos of the actual item.
If you have any concerns or need more information, you can often contact Best Buy’s customer service for clarification at (888) 237-8289, they are open 24 Hours a Day.
