Hi Matt, No, this doesn't need a water connection. You must fill the reservoir cap with 22 oz (650ml) of drinkable water to use the steam function. I have shared the manual to learn more about the proper instructions for using the "Water Reservoir." Kindly read pages 20-21 for reference.
