It has a headphone jack. Works with blue tooth also. Once it is activated you can make calls when you wish. If you completely turn the phone off rather then stand by it might be a couple of minutes before it is in use- then you swipe the front to get into it (or Faceprint) then put the code in with keyboard. Mine is always on stand by so it is just a swipe and punch in 4 numbers an ready to go in 10 seconds.
