• I solved the problem. It is necessary to first put xm4 into pairing mode. Do this by touching both ears at same time for about five seconds.

• Turn on the bluetooth on the laptop an scan for bluetooth devices. The earbuds should be automatically scanned to be paired. When the earbuds are detected click on connect.
