• There is an ambient function that turns up how high or low other noise comes in. You can have it on high and it allows you to hear very well with people talking or other noise. Or you can have it where you hear almost nothing. I use mine in a a work setting and they work great.

• Yes it's better than live listen it's called ambient noise mode which uses the 3 microphone built into the buds to allow you to hear everything.
