Locked phones work on a specific carrier and no other unless they get unlocked. They also come with that carriers set of bloatware to bog down your phone. Contrary to popular belief u locked doesn't mean it will work on any carrier. Most phones will but many of the budget unlocked phones ($50-400). Will only work on GSM carrier and not CDMA carriers such as sprint or Verizon.

A locked phone can only be used with a specific network. For example, this model is locked to AT&T. An unlocked pone can be brought to another network.
