It is more like a dove grey. Frankly, I only see any hint of purple tones when it is alongside accessories that are decidedly lavender. I adore the device, but in most light I'm afraid the Orchid Grey almost looks like drab sort of taupe. With these glass panels, however, I personally always use a strong case anyway.
