I pre-ordered and there was no option for in-store pick-up, but I did receive my phone before the official release of September 15. Perhaps it will become available after release? As for when it might arrive, if it's in stock you can usually order online and pick-up the same day; for items not in stock, my experience has been that it takes about a week to arrive.

You can either wait until then to try that option, go to a store and preorder and see if you can get it on the 15th in store or buy it and have it shipped to your house now. I preordered the day it was announced and it shipped early. I received it a few days ago. Most retailers don't offer an online preorder with in-store pickup. Hopefully there is enough supply at your local store on the 15th! It's a great phone so far!
