“Does Samsung in general and this model in particular work well with Android Auto? My Motorola Z3 Play is awful in this regard and I am thinking of returning to Apple because of that. Thanks!”

Samsungs are Android phones so yes... Car manufactures sometimes only support one architecture ( android or apple iOS ) Apple 'stuff ' works great in Apple's Ecosystem.. Android phones work great pretty much every where else... Before returning your phone check online Google your phone & car YouTube videos for your phone Amazon reviews for your phone Check 1 & 2 star reviews If you don't find answer you can post your questions there...
