No. You can keep old phone, but it will be inactive when new one is activated.

I got the Lg G4 for $1.00 with a 2 year contract, and didn't have to trade in my old phone to Verizon, love not having to spend a fortune on a phone! I do wonder what changes will be made to my plan though, it looks like 4g LTE network costs more than 3g did.
