I am not sure what the difference between the phones is, but this specific one IS brand new, not used. My understanding on this phones, based on a conversation with a salesperson at Best Buy, is that for some reason the manufacturer didn't sell them fast enough or perhaps it wasn't the most popular when it was released. Therefore, when a new model comes out, those phones that didn't sell fast enough end up on the prepaid isle at Best Buy. The phone can be used as a pre paid phone, or with a plan.
