Charles, did you have a ongoing account with Metro PCS? I can only offer my experience. I pulled the sim card out of my old Verizon Motorola Maxx, plugged it into my new unlocked S8 and that was it. I didn't change the service provider and no activation fee was involved. Insert sim card and Go.
