As long as you are eligible for an upgrade with your plan, you won’t have to switch plans to cover the upgrade. That’s not even a question they talk to you about when purchasing a phone. They look to see your upgrade capability, and then go on with the sale. The reps at Best Buy can’t make changes to your plan as far as I know.
