“My s7 was on a payment plan through Verizon. I am eligible for an upgrade after half the phone is paid off, so I am now eligible. I will be trading in my s7 for the upgrade. Does this have to be done through Verizon since there is still a balance?”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just did an upgrade/trade-in while paying off my phone at Bestbuy. Verizon will require you to payoff your S7 before initiating a new contract. In other words, you will have to payoff your S7 before you either trade it in or keep it. If you trade it in, Verizon will discount your monthly payment on the S8 or S8+ by $20/month for 24 months.
