My eligibility time (24 mos) was not up. I believe I had made my 16th payment. The reason I upgraded was because it reduced my monthly equipment charge. Basically I had to return my S8 (old phone) within 14 days and then whatever I had yet to pay ($224) was credited to my account. Should I keep the phone I would have to pay the $224. Hope this helps.
