Yes, this unit is compatible with Sprint.

I was on Sprint with my old Galaxy S4. I had Best Buy transfer the information off the SIM chip on my old phone to the S9 and I was immediately connected.

Yes..its best to get an unlocked phone so you can choose the provider of your choice..I was also told that some phones provided by some service providers only will work on their network..buy unlocked.
