“Just purchased this tablet on 3/12/22 and got it up and running quickly, battery was down to 36% so put on charger and 4 hrs later was at 76%, by bedtime was only 86% by morning it was 97% is this normal? Want to return it but will wait for an answer from”

No that sounds defective. The battery life on this is great also look into a lighting cable for faster charging.
