• I can, yes. Not as well as in an indoor setting, but yes, image is clear.

• Short answer, yes. Long answer: If you turn the brightness all the way up the screen is decently viewable if it is in a shadow but NOT with the sun shining directly on it. The Super AMOLED screen view ability is much better than yesterday's LED type but the higher the brightness the shorter the battery life.
