Hardware wise, this Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and the iPad are very similar. The Tab S3, being an Android device, has a lot more flexibility in terms of configuration. That can be a plus for a power user, or a minus for someone else. For example with an iPad you have to use the mail app to access your email. On an Android tablet you can use the supplied email app, or install any one of a dozen others. But of course you have to spend the time deciding which of those couple dozen email apps you like the best. Since you have an iPhone, the iPad will "integrate" better "out of the box". For example, photos you take on your iPhone will be available on an iPad with much less initial setup effort than with an Android tablet like the Tab S3. Also the iPad and iPhone will have more common apps. And the user interface on the iPad will be very similar to your iPhone. An Android tablet's interface will be different. If you really like your iPhone and would not want to spend much time learning new things, get the iPad. If however you want a lot more flexibility in your tablet, potentially at the cost of a learning curve, get the Samsung. Personally I love my Tab S3. But I'm also an Android phone user and like the flexibility Android gives me both on my phone and my tablet.

If it's games, movies, music not tied to the iTunes store it's excellent. You can get the free MS office suite for Android if you expect to do "work." It's wifi, but you can set your iPhone to be a hotspot so you can connect if no wifi is available-just need to be careful of your data usage. The biggest hurdle is it's Android, and your iPhone is iOS so how things work, like swipe, etc., are different. There's an adjustment period until one is comfortable switching between the two OS's. Personally, I wound up selling my iPhone and buying an Android based phone as first and foremost they're less expensive and now they both "work" the same on the screen. If your home PC is a Mac you can still synch, but without iTunes availability it's a problem. I use a Windows PC and ripped all my music from iTunes to mp3, etc. and just put it all on an SD card which you can swap out for one filled with movies. That is the best feature of these excellent Samsung tablets...you literally have unlimited storage vs. an iPad where your storage is fix based on the model. Choice of phone is just that, a choice.

However if you're already used to IOS and you have no complaints I'd go with an iPad. Go to Best Buy and play around with them. See what you think. Hope this helps.
