I have not had any problems with it falling out, it locks in the slot, yet it is easy to to access and remove.

The magnet along the back is the location that will allow the S Pen to stay in place while charging. If you do place a case on your device that space will still be open and offer further protection from accidental bumps that may dislodge the S Pen. You can also carry it in another way if you are not allowing it to charge. We appreciate you being a Samsung customer. -Elizabeth
