Hello CaliKing, that's a really good question. To use the call or text features over Bluetooth, the watch must be connected to a phone through Bluetooth and the Galaxy Wearable app. The watch cannot be connected remotely over Wi-Fi only. No, it does not need to be added to your phone plan. It just needs to sync with your phone.
