A:Answer I think one advantage could be you could use a Google Voice phone number to make calls online, without having to have a cellphone plan, just using your router. Of course, in that case, I assume you'd need to download a browser app from Samsung's app store. And you would need to be able to pair your watch with your router so the watch would need to have Bluetooth. Then, you'd have to stay within the range of a router. But having this capability would enable you to get online without having to pay for a data plan through your cellphone. If you already have a router but can't afford a data plan for your phone, this could get you online via a router instead.
But without being able to access a cellphone tower via a cellphone plan with data, you'd have to pair to a router and stay within range.
Also, there may be an advantage with streaming music. Sometimes, for example, I get a stronger internet connection via my home's router versus my cellphone. If I want to be able to stream music or listen to iheart or Spotify without the signal being glitchy, having wifi capability would give me the option to stream over a router versus having to be dependent on the wifi signal of my cellphone.
Another advantage may be in downloading music and photos. Sometimes a direct wifi connection may be advantageous in being able to more quickly download from the internet, versus having to do it by being paired with your phone.
These are just a guess. I've been doing hours of research to try to figure all this out for my husband, for a Christmas present. Lord willing, I'm right about all this, but we'll see, lol. Blessings...
