Will this work with my old Samsung Galaxy S 2? Will I need to buy a new phone?

Don't expect for anything new to work on something below the galaxy s3, old devices cannot support the the Galaxy Gear, just upgrade to a new device.

no, unfortunately the cut off is the S3. supposedly the older processors can't handle push notifications. sorry.

It is my understanding that you must minimally have the galaxy S 3, or Note 3. However, it is a good investment, as the newer phones are so much better than the S2

You will have to get a new phone. The S2 is up there in age and does not have the ability to support the new software. Your Samsung must be running Android 4.3 or higher to use the gears. Upgrade. The Galaxy s4 is $49.99 at Best Buy using your upgrade. Or you could get one of the newer phones that are a lot better, like the Note III or the Galaxy S5

No the Galaxy 2 is to far out of date and is not on the list of phones tat are able to connect with the Gear 2.

Unfortunately at this time the watch, like the original gear, will only work with the Galaxy III and above.

I would walk in to any best buy and ask the Samsung guy there.
