yes you can. It has full texting keyboard or voice to text, both work great , also you can use your finger and write the words which it changes to text

I can receive texts and emails on my watch and send 'canned' replies. There are quite a few to choose from and it is very easy to scroll to one and select it. I can't send original texts, just the pre-selected choices
